G-Watch on International Anti-Corruption Day

As part of the International Anti-Corruption Day 2020, G-Watch will hold a consultative dialogue among different government agencies and civil society organizations in Sibagat, Agusan del Sur on December 9, 1:00-4:00pm and in Marawi on December 12, 1:00-4:00pm.

Adopted in October 2003 by the United Nations General Assembly, the annual International Anti-Corruption Day aims to raise awareness on the fight against corruption and specifically the role of the United Nations Convention against Corruption.

G-Watch has pioneered several anti-corruption and accountability initiatives and continues to expand and deepen its work in different parts of the country. G-Watch’s most recent initiative in Agusan and BARMM is the monitoring of the government’s response to COVID-19 pandemic. In particular, G-Watch just recently conducted an independent validation of the Social Amelioration Program (SAP), report on which is available here: https://www.g-watch.org/resources/governance-reform-studies/g-watch-independent-validation-social-amelioration-program-sap

The upcoming event aims to:

- To give platform for agencies to share their actions in response to the occurring pandemic, including their initiatives on anti-corruption, transparency, participation and accountability

- To become a bridging space for the transparency of different agencies in responding to the pandemic

- To clarify the citizen’s question on who is working on what and what’s been done in response to the pandemic
