Government Watch (G-Watch), a program of the Ateneo School of Government (ASoG), was recognized by the Australian Embassy’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade for its contribution in improving the financial management system of civil service in the Philippines.

G- Watch was cited for “its invaluable support and contribution to the Philippines- Australian Public Financial Management Program (PFMP).”  The program is collaboration between the governments of Australia and the Philippines. It aims to improve the accountability, transparency, and efficiency of public fund use in the Philippines.

G-Watch implemented the following projects: procurement reform in the Department of Education (Dep Ed) from 2014- 2016, pilot-testing of civil society’s participation in the Agency Procurement Compliance Performance Indicators, and the tracking and documentation of the contract management and monitoring of Dep Ed.

Launched in 2000, G-Watch is ASoG’s social accountability action-research program.  It focuses on monitoring program implementation of government agencies. G-Watch fosters constructive engagement among citizens, civil society organizations and the government.
