G-Watch to monitor health projects in City

The Government Watch (G-Watch) of the Ateneo School of Government forged a partnership with the city government of Dumaguete for a project called Subay sa Kahimsug with the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement at the City Hall quadrangle.

The MOA was signed by Mayor Manuel Sagarbarra, Visayan Forum field officer Marlene Pepino, Ateneo School of Government Assoc. Dean Dr. Mario Villaverde, G-Watch director Joy Aceron, YMCA executive director Greg Fernandez, and Dr. Emelen Nakao of the SU School of Public Affairs & Governance.

City Administrator William Ablong, G-Watch focal person, said the project in Dumaguete, which is a pilot testing area, will monitor the different projects and programs, especially in health services.

Aceron said the G-Watch forged in 2010 partnerships with several local government units, including Dumaguete, with the goal of monitoring and improving the services delivery of LGUs.

G-Watch is a joint government-citizen action towards improving governance using constructive engagement in performance and monitoring.

“After several dialogues, research, and capacity- building activities in the project sites, we are now ready to roll out the monitoring project in Dumaguete City which focuses on the procurement of drugs and medicine,” Aceron said.
